Should I convict my husband for domestic violence charges?

First incident of domestic violence. He has never been physical before, although he did make a threat last week for the first time, too. He is on a new medication (prescribed) that warns of aggression and hostility when first taking it so it may have something to do with that. He is currently in jail and the police want to know if I want to take it to court and testify against him so he will be convicted or just drop it.
