Can recipes for a 5 quart slow cooker be used in a 3 quart cooker?

I just bought a 3 quart slow cooker and I've been searching for recipes for it. Many of the recipes I've found are for 5+ quart slow cookers and I'd like to know if I can use these recipes if I halve them. And advice would be great. Thanks!
