Need help making video shorter?

I will explain what i did through this process. I couldn't get the video uploaded becuase my video was to big. So i searched around and was told of two programs: Bit ripper and virtual clone drive. My video was an iso file so i mounted the video and then used bit ripper to convert it to avi. But im still want to know how to compress my video as it says my video is 26.08 when really my video is only about 7 mins. What causes this and how can i fix this, as this is to long for a single youtube video. also when i put the curser over the converted video it says 80.0 mb. If anyone has instant messenger can someone help me step by step on what im supposed to do? Thanks in advance
