Recommend a book series for adults?

I'm have a difficult time finding a series appropriate for my age and preferences. Somthing with no vampires, no bodice rippers, no mystery/horror, and nothing TOO young adult ( I understand that ya fiction can sometimes have underlying adult themes, I.e, Harry Potter, Chronicles of narnia). Can you suggest something well written with good character development? If it helps, some of my favorites are the Outlander series, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, LOTR, Pillars of the Earth, and Harry Potter. Thanks
